Question about my Polar F4 HRM

I recently bought a F4 and it works well for the most part. I am having one issue with it that I was hoping one of you can help me with. When I'm working out, it gets up to my target HR and then, for no reason that I can determine, it will suddenly drop my HR down to something like 77 for a minute or two and then back up to the right rate again. My chest strap hasn't moved, I haven't changed the intensity of the workout, and it has a brand new battery in it. Has anyone else had this happen? I can't figure out how to keep it from doing that. It's not too big of a deal except that it effects my total calorie count.

If anyone else has had this problem, I would love to hear about it and any possible things to try to resolve it. Thanks!

Make sure that the electrodes are well moistened before you start working out. Sometimes my F4 acts up if it isn't wet enough to begin with. Sometimes it slips a little & I just have to adjust it. Sometimes I think a plane flies over & screws it up (I wish I was kidding...we live right next to an airport...). They are the kind that don't have the "interference blockers" like the F6 does so perhaps that's part of the problem, too.

I recently bought a Polar F4 also and while it is a great tool, after two weeks I had to send it in for warranty repair. It has been sucking a battery every 2 days, and the manual says they should last for around 2 years. See if your battery is dead after a few days; if so, contact Polar and they will send you a prepaid UPS label to send it in. It stinks that I had to send it in already but I know it is a good tool. Hopefully the turnaround isn't too long.

Thanks for your help guys! So far, the battery doesn't seem to be the issue but I will keep an eye one it. Planes flying over *definitely* isn't the problem! I live in rural Oregon - the only thing close to that would be CB traffic from all the log trucks going by on the highway! :laugh: I will just keep using it and see what happens. If I continue to have problems, I will contact Polar directly and see what they have to say.
