Dealing with holidays.

I'm going interstate with a few friends in a week and I know they're planning on eating heaps and drinking even more.

I'm already feeling so nervous about going because they've already told me about all the restaurants they want to go to (mexican, a pancake parlour that's apparently the best hangover breakfast). On top of this, there won't exactly be an opportunity to hit the gym, lol.

I just want to let loose and have fun while I'm there but I know I won't be able to if I eat the wrong foods too often, because I'll feel guilty. It's only 3 days but I just need tips, motivation and words of wisdom of how to get through the holiday the best way possible.

Have you ever been through a similar situation/how do you get through social eating? :\

I am about to go through this but to a greater extent. I am going to America for 3 months and I too stress about the weight gain that will occur on the trip. I have spent the last 4 months dieting and working my *kitten* off in the gym and I dont want that to just go to waste.

Firstly, I am going to say enjoy yourself on your trip. That is the main thing.

Let me guess, you are going to Melbourne and you are getting pancakes off Chapel St? They are good if you are going there haha.

You can eat at maintenance for the 3 days. I am not sure how much you are cutting off your maintenance but there is probably room to move.

In the alternative, you could just choose healthier options at the restaurants you are going to. There will always be something on the menu that you can have (unless you are like me and have to dodge all carbs).

OR you could just eat and have fun. You didnt lose weight in 3 days and nor will you gain weight in 3 days. Any gains you may get will be water weight and your body is probably due for a refeed on calories. Not much harm will be done if you get straight back into diet and exercise when you get back.

The worst thing is alcohol when you are eating. Steer clear of any alcoholic drinks if you are consuming food.

    Hope this helps :)

I'd go, eat anything and everything I wanted but make sure I was doing cardio 3 times each day for a total of 3 hours of cardio.

We went on a Carnival Cruise - a total food orgy.

I ate about 8 times each day - BIG!
And after each meal, I'd walk up and down the decks - 14 flights of stairs.
After 7 days, all I gained was 5 lousy pounds.

    IT WAS WELL WORTH IT!

Enjoy yourself and *kitten* the damage and deal with it when you get back.....you're not going away for an extended period. I'm getting ready to go away for a few days myself. I've just been cutting out some calories here and there this week to prepare. Have fun!!

Oh my god you're spot on, how did you guess that! hahah! I'm guessing they're like 1000 cal a pancake.

You're right. I'm going to go, enjoy myself, still try to log as best as I can and then damage control when I get back!!! You only live once.

@MaximalLife - I won't be able to work out, but maybe when we go shopping a lot of calories will be burnt there! And dancing.

I think what I'll do is stay away from too much to drink, I hate being hungover anyway!
