Anyone have backyard chickens?

Just curious if there are any urban homesteaders out there...

I have 4 laying hens and we have multiple gardens. Once we get land, we hope to get a couple goats for cheese. I love my chickens, they are interesting birds to say the least :laugh:

Anyone else out there producing their own food?

    yes i have just two chickens at mo, tho used to have ducks goats rabbits etc etc, moving soon and then will have horses too, and more chickens and will hatch out more ducks...

    Surely we aren't the only 2 people on MFP with chickens..?

    I guess more people will find this doing a recipe search than anything else :laugh: :laugh:

    I want chickens, just don't live in an area that I can have them right now....I would love to have a coop, and maybe a few goats......
    Of course my dream is to own an Orange Grove...

    I do have a honey bee hive though, so its a start♥

    Yes, we have 6 hens. I love having chickens. We hatched a few from eggs in an incubator and then we bought three as baby chicks. I grow a lot of vegetables and we have some fruit (blueberry bushes, strawberry patch, wild dewberries and raspberries). I can and preserve as much as possible. We keep a couple of rabbits as pets and I use their manure as fertilizer. I also have a worm compost bin that I use as fertilizer too.
