Glycemic Index

I never see this as a topic. I would like to know what people's thought are on this. Anything with a high GI will spike your blood suger. Eating things that are low-med will keep your blood sugar levels stable. Stable blood sugar levels enable you to more efficiently use the fuel you have put into your body and you will more efficiently burn fat for fuel. No one seems to talk about it though.

Does anyone ever pay attention to the GI of certain foods?

I wouldn't worry about it unless you are diabetic. Keep things simple.

It gets tossed around from time to time.

My thoughts: Glycemic index is really not that important when it comes to weight loss. It IS important for diabetics trying to keep blood sugar stable when their insulin responses are shot-to-hell.

There's a semi-popular notion out there that insulin promotes weight gain and that therefore glycemic index is an important worry for everyone. This notion is based on some truths. Insulin DOES promote fat storage... but it forgets some other important truths such as: 1) you're going to burn more fat than you store when you're in a calorie deficit, and 2) plenty of other hormones/factors contribute to fat storage; insulin is not the only thing driving it.
