Daily Calorie help!

I started doing the 30 Day Shred 15 days ago and I'm not seeing the results that I would like to. I really don't know much; I'm not sure if I'm eating too much, too little or just being impatient. I started eating around 1200 calories b/c thats what the DVD said, but then I googled some stuff and found that my BMR is 1400 and that I shouldn't eat below that so, I moved to eating 1400-1500 calories. Is this right? Can anyone help me? Also, do I add in the calories that I burn from the dvd (only around 200) to my BRM so that I eat 1600 calories? Ah, I just don't know! My stats are listed below. I don't care about losing weight; I would actually like to gain weight (only from muscle, of course) but my main goal is to lose inches around me waist/hips and become strong.

Waist" 27
Belly Button: 32
Hips: 36"
Thigh" Left" 20.75 Right: 20"
