Worried about Starvation Mode...

I am 5'3" and have a set 1300cal/day. I workout in the evenings and have a hard time eating the calories I burn. I don't want to hinder my weight loss because my body goes into starvation mode. My main goal is to decrease my body fat.

I am somewhat new to this and would really like more direction.

You should eat the allotted calories MFP gives you. If you work out, you should eat those calories back. Big deficits aren't conducive to long term sustainable weight loss.

Suggestions for getting the extra calories in - nuts, avocado, olive oil and other calorie dense/nutrient dense foods.

If you know you are going to work out at night, eat more throughout the day to compensate for it. Just a suggestion.

I do this, and it works for me. I usually eat the majority of my exercise calories back. This way, with eating them pre-workout, I know that I HAVE TO work out. Works for me. ;D

It also depends on how close you are to your goal-- if you're within 10 lbs. or so, you should also be gradually reducing your deficit to avoid plateaus and stuff.

(This is my completely unprofessional, solicited opinion, that I can only back up with my own experience, btw.) <3

If you feel like you can't eat the calories back, try drinking them with milk or juice?
