UK peeps.

Have you ever roasted a marshmallow over a fire?

Ive never, ever seen it done, so im trying to work out if its a regional thing, or a national thing, that we just...don't! =/

Totally! We used to do it all the time when I was a Guide. Even nowadays, sometimes I'll toast one over the flame on the gas hob for a wee treat. They are truly awesome!

I've seen it done but I can't bear marshmallow - uck, too squishy and not in a good way. My daughter is very fond of marshmallow fluff - not so easy to get in the UK, don't know where she got the habit!

Yup, when we went camping when I was little! Normally on the embers of the barbecue. But also you can get biscuits and chocolate and make what the Americans call s'mores! I have marshmallow toasting forks! But we used to do them on the end of a stick!
  • Nope,. not ever. But then i've never been camping ? lol

Yeh we used to do it at guides too! Used to find sticks around the camp and just stick them on the end. I toast them on the hob too :)

Yes but just over the stove or ciggy lighter. But this was when I was younger, not any time recently.
  • We do it all the time with our Brownies. The best is toasted then melted between two chocolate digestives (probably shouldn't be recommending that when we're trying to stay fit and healthy!!!). Its really easy to do with tea lights especially!

Yes but only in the last couple of years. The first time as part of a family activity day organised by the local council and the second at my sisters, she has one of those funky circular garden huts that has a fire in the middle and seats round the edge, I'm soooo jealous of that, I'd love an extra 'room' in my garden. Don't like toasted marshmallows though, seems to make them taste even sweeter than normal, yuck!

I am from the UK and I used to do it all the time. I command you to get a candle and do it.

Also to the Americans here, what biscuits should you use for smores? I had them made for me once and I'd like them again!
  • Oh yess! So so good!
