So I got blood results tests back today. Good news is Iron, B12 and HDL have all returned to normal range, but unfortunately total cholesterol went up (and it was already a little high). So my doctor wrote on the results she suggests a low-fat diet. So I go online and do my research but what I can't find is what level of Saturated Fat I should be staying under. Is anyone else watching saturated fat to lower cholesterol?
I'm already on a low-residue diet (No whole grains, nuts, very restricted on fruits and veggies, essentially low-fiber) so I am now dreading trying to find a diet that's both low-fat and low-residue.

Check out this website: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/healthy-diet/NU00200
The Mayo clinic recommends that you keep your saturated fats at or below 7% of your total daily calories.

Somewhere... I can't find it now... I read something that suggested that you eat 10 to 20% of your calories as poly and monounsaturated fats because poly and monounsaturated fats can lower cholesterol levels with mono being the better choice because mono has a larger effect on LDLs.0
