I'm not hungry for THAT

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem:
I seem to have this idea in my head that sweet things do not fill me up. Example: Oatmeal with hot sauce keeps me full for hours. Maple flavored oatmeal makes me hungry half an hour after I eat.
I really don't like this about myself, as I'm sure it's mental, but I just can't seem to kick it. Any ideas?

It's not necessarily all mental. I find that if I eat something very sugary pretty soon I'm hungry again, unless it also has enough fat or I eat something with protein along with it.0
