I think you are right in upping your calories. Your body will not let go of that little bit of fat you want to lose because you are running so much, whereas a less active person might be able to. Even if you haven't lost weight or inches, you ARE still toning your body.

I have been wondering about that, even if you don't lose inches or pounds does that mean nothing is happening?
  • Yes, you are correct.
Taking it to it's logical conclusion, when there is no excess, the body eats away at its own fuel reserves, whilst trying to hold on to everything it can.

It can't hold on to anything because it's all being used, and there is still a deficit.

Then we get into the nasty territory where muscle is used as fuel.

I can't say I have a full scientific understanding of it myself, but many people here I'm sure will testify their weight loss and fat burn increased when they ate more (of the right stuff of course!)

They olypmians don't burn 6,000 calories in training, they need the extra for proper fuel and repair to allow them to perform. An olympian isn't eating to get thin, they're eating for growth and repair rather than loss.

I was looking over my carb/fat/protein intake and I think I am going to up my fat a little bit. Maybe that will keep me satisfied longer. I am trying what runnersworld said 50 carbs, 25 fat, 25 protein. Thanks for all your imput. If you have more I would love to hear it.
