Ugggggggg Car trouble.

I had to have my car towed this morning because when I started it, it made this awful squeeling noise and smelled like burning rubber.
So the dealership calls back and says it my a/c clutch and compressor. And of course, it's not covered under warranty. It's going to cost $1400!!!!

I am so bummed.

I've called around and all the other shops say they would have to go through the dealership because it's so new.
Keep your fingers crossed for me though because I talked to the guy at the dealership and told him I had complained before about this problem and they didn't do anything about it and also I just had a 50K check up done and they didn't catch it. So he is going to see if his manager will cover it. I'm not getting my hopes up though.

what you need Memaw is an EngiNERD like myself, we fix everything... you might have a few extra bolts and screws but they are not typically needed anyway...

I will do it for free if you fly me out there and buy the parts :laugh:

you better shop around-shop- shop around! Just cause a car is new does not mean nobody but the dealer can work on it. coming down by $100 is not enough of a concession- it can't hurt to get more estimates!!!

I used to work at a NAPA and looked at their online cataloging and no compressor was listed.
Make sure though that it isn`t just the clutch on the end that burned out,there is a chance the compressor part may be okay but no promises.

how much is teh compressor if you bought it from Napa or Auto-parts store? how much are they charging for labor? GEEESH, dats alot of money...

I feel your pain. We had a Suzuki GV when they first came out & spent a butt load of maintenance money on it. :ohwell:

They said the clutch is locked up but if I only change out the clutch and not the compressor too, it would probably happen again anyway. This is the same thing all the a/c mechanics I called said too. This is the only problem I have had with it .....so far. There better not be any more issues!
