Hi all. My name is Melissa. I am a mom of 2.5 year old twin boys. I just went back to work the end of December for the first time since having them. At one point, I was about 5 lbs from my pre-preggo weight and another 10 from being a healthy weight but I just started gaining back over the last 6 or so months. I was 170 when I got pregnant, 220 when I delivered, 198 when I left the hospital, went down to 173 and back up to 190. My goal is 150 lbs to be healthy and about 140-145 to be happy. I am 5'9". I joined MFP just this past Tuesday and have been doing really well. I have been UNDER my calorie goal all week. I was worried how the weekend was going to be, but so far so good. I have PCOS which makes it harder to lose weight but I WILL do this! I have never felt more motivated in my life! It helps having a friend at work doing it with me. We walk everyday. I do Just Dance 2 for the Wii. I am looking for other things to switch it up some so I don't get bored.

It really does make you realize how much you are putting in your mouth when you see it in black and white. I really watch what I eat and how MUCH I eat. Portion control is one of my biggest issues...not to mention carb intake. I'm a carb junkie. I am really enjoying knowing how many calories I am allowed a day. It makes making smart choices much easier. I look at it this way...

You have X amount of calories a day you can consume. You can "earn" calories. Sooooo....I compare it to having an "allowance". Would I rather spend my "money" on a bunch of crappy dollar store toys that will break, or spend my "money" wisely and something I REALLY want? So knowing how many calories I am allowed, it helps me make smarter choices. And knowing I can earn, makes me happy to know I can still enjoy the foods I've always loved...just smaller portions as long as I have "enough money" for it.
