The best way to measure success for me is to buy a tight pair of jeans & once per week try them on. Even if the scale is not moving, the jeans start fitting & I know all my hard work in the gym is paying off.0

muscle does weigh more than fat.
A pound is a pound.
a pound of fat does not weigh less than a pound of muscle.
Sigh. I swear to god this website is going to be the death of me.

Not trying to argue with you, but wouldn't that just mean muscle is more dense than fat? Just curious, not being argumentative0 -
Well first you can't gain muscle on a calorie deficit so that's not it.
Oh good lord. Who told you THAT??? :noway: :sick:
Two dietitians is who told me that.
It's not impossible but it's insanely hard, and in her situation it's unlikely.0 -
Wait for it;
BMI is C.R.A.P.
Completely (w)rong and pointless.
Measure. Chill out. Realise BMI isn't that important and is an INCREDIBLY loose GUIDE to where the AVERAGE person should be aiming, without any muscle developed from exercise.0 -
When my scale stays the same when I've been putting a good effort into losing weight I break out the tape measure. I bet you will notice a difference from the last time you measured! hang in there!0

Scale hasn't budged in how long? A day? A week? I've seen so many of these posts lately and people not understanding why the scale hasnt budged in, say, 3 days. If it IS an actual plateau, there was lots of good advice given, like switching things up in your diet and fitness routine to keep your body "guessing". A plateau is weeks or months without loss. Not days. One lady came on saying she was in a plateau because she only lost 3 pounds in 3 weeks, SMH.0

Taking a look at your diary, you definitely need to fuel your body more and not skip meals. Looking over the past couple of weeks, you are at quite a deficit with your calories - under 1200 quite consistently. I know stress can cause problems, but your health has to stay a priority Try to keep snacks on the go with you for during the day: nuts, cut up veggies, granola bars, etc. Think of your body like a vehicle. If you don't fuel it up, it won't work as well. If you don't fuel your body up, it won't have the energy to do what you want/need it to do. How much water are you drinking a day? Definitely up that as well if you haven't been drinking it. You need to keep your body hydrated as well as help flush out your system.
Good luck!0 -

A pound of anything, be it muscle, brick, fat, feathers, etc etc WEIGHS EXACTLY THE SAME! I think the misunderstanding here is that a pound of muscle is SMALLER than a pound of FAT.. hence the saying that muscle weighs more than fat. A pound of each is exactly the same... one is just smaller in size.0
