Its things most people 'know' but still do. I personally can always use a good article for motivation! :)

If more people stuck to their servings instead of over consuming America wouldn't be obese. It would also help if people sold correct servings-including at the restaurants.

It all comes down to looking at the serving size and only getting the serving sizes

I will argue though that if people nowadays were served appropriate portion sizes at restaurants, they would feel cheated. Many would probably complain that for what they paid, they didn't get enough food. Restaurants have to keep up with customer demands (we are a capitalist economy after all), and if they aren't pleasing the customer, they'll go the way a lot of banks went recently:tongue: .

Ultimately, the restaurants can't make you eat all 12 ounces of that steak. For every one of us here at MFP who would like to see portion sizes at restaurants cut back, there are probably 25 people out there who would be pissed if they received 4 oz of steak.

    Just sayin'.

Servings smaller and prices smaller. And I would love to see all nutritional information right next to the meal on the menu.

Yeah, it's a good theory. Except dropping prices too low devalues the product. Just don't eat it all...

Well some of us don't eat it all. But apparently we are not the majority-63% of Americans are overweight 31% are obese. And some places are making smaller potions-Subway for starters and Applebee's has the weight watchers menu. But I really do feel they should have to disclose all nutritional information. You shouldn't have to search the web to get it, it should be right there when you order.

:ohwell: I guess we're still better than some countries. In Mexico they don't even have nutrition information on anything you buy at the store. My Columbian friend told me that it's the same in many south American countries. She said no one really cares... But then again, South America has really high rates of cosmetic surgery, just like South Korea...

Until then, I guess we're all just halving our entrees immediately and asking for a take-home box!

That is so interesting-they don't even care about the nutrition, and we are still the fattest country in the world. :ohwell:
