You're either, not being (intentionally or unintentionally) accurate enough at monitoring your calorie balance (calories in vs out whether thats through over estimating calories burned and/or underestimating calories in).

Or you're not creating a big enough deficit to see big losses.

    It's that simple.

I've started trying to shift 10lbs since the 1st of january, and I know I shouldn't expect to see major changes yet, but i've only managed to shift about 2lbs since starting!
Its got me so fed up, i started giving up and haven't bothered the last couple of days.
    Help!

You've lost 2 lbs in 3 weeks and you're giving up?

Someone showed me this site and it makes more sense to me. A lot of you were wondering why eating more works? Go here and listen to the audio clips in the middle slight right of the page called the F2f philosophy. This guy makes sense, I lost 3 lbs this week by following this. Read, and listen..educate yourself is the best way to deal with anything. :) Good Luck!

Can I ask how increasing calories and decreasing exercise can cause you to lose weight if you hit a brick wall? It seems sort of what you shouldn't be doing.

1.5 lbs a week by the way is freaking awesome! I'm assuming from the OP's post he only needs to lose 10lbs. Thats harder to do then 100 honestly. An obese person can lose crazy amounts at the drop of a hat with deficit calorie intake, but a close to goal weight person will have to work a lot harder to do that. Don't give up it's the repeated steps on the journey that get's you there not the first.

In the end the only way to truly get the fat off is to shift the metabolism. If you don't eat enough your body will scavange lean muscle for repair and replenishing and that will slow your metabolism down and stifle the weight loss. Your body needs fuel for excercise and weight weight loss. That being said everyone is different.

The poster may need to experiment with not just the amount of calories, but their make up too. I had played with the same 4lbs since Thanksgiving. I went back and looked at my history and realized my carb and gluten intake had gone up and protein down. I switched it back up eliminated the gluten lowered carbs to 160ish grams (still way over most low carb diets) increased protein to 200ish grams and bang this past 8 days I've dropped 4lbs. The right balance can retain your muscle and lose just fat. I've kept my arms over 18 incnes and lost over 60 lbs by making sure I workout and support it with the right fuel for my body. What's you body type? Mesomprphic, Endomorphoic, Ektomorphic? Sounds funny, but look it up and see how your current nutrition compares to what your body type suggests. What have you got ot lose, except maybe some time and hopefully some weight?
    Good luck!
  • this is my fourth day and i realized that i am unintentionally doing it wrong. i always have like more than 300 calories left throughout the day, Maybe because i hit the treadmill for 45 minutes everyday.

i have something to confirm though; please let me know if this is correct:

Last saturday, my calorie intake was 1243, burned 367 calories (thru exercise) and i have 324 calories left. Does that mean that it would be best if i try to consume the spare calories? or to make the question less complicated, what i need to make sure of is that the NET count is always at 1200 minimum. Please shed some light so i can do the program properly. your response is highly appreciated,

feel free to add me up if you want :)

So increase calories and decrease exercise! I know "wrong" but it can work!

This is exactly what I'm trying the next few weeks. I keep plateauig despite having a choleric deficit of over 1000 calories. I'm thinking this may be to large for me, yet I don't want to eat more, so I'm going to cut back on my workouts a touch, just do a normal one session a day, and but still eat about the same. I'm hoping this works, because otherwise I don't know what else to do.

I'm never hungry enough to eat the recommended calories : / i don't want to force feed myself food that i'm not hungry for.

You could try increasing calories by adding calorie -nutrient dense foods such as almonds, almond butter, walntus, mango etc. Then you will not be eating more bulk per say , however, increasing calories and nuttrients
