hi
Im Kimmy.
I started at 270 and am currently halfway to my goal of 165 that means Ive lost 52lbs but the problem is my body doesnt look half way there. People arent noticing Ive lost much because almost all my loss has been just waist. 6 inches waist only inch and half hips and inch bust...
Since Im at halfway will I start losing not faster but more noticably? 50+ lbs down and only just over a jean size seems blah to me. I'm thrilled Im losing but simply annoyed and impatient perhaps lol.
What has been ya'll experiences?
Thanks
Kimmy

First... Great job losing 52lbs... That is awesome!!!!
I can relate to your experience. I only lost 1 pant size after losing 35lbs. It was discouraging. And it was very slow for me to drop sizes. I started at 232, and have lost 70lbs. I started as a tight size 18 (a few size 20 things), and I am now comfortably wearing a size 12. I have some size 10s that I can fit in, but they are too tight to wear in public!!!! I am bigger on the bottom than the top, so even though I wasn't dropping sizes, people noticed mostly because my face thinned out.
Try not to get too discouraged... you will see changes soon enough. You are doing a fantastic job and should be proud of your accomplishments!!0 -
I understand that frustration! I started around 300, have lost 50 lbs and am just starting to hear that people (other than my partner) can see the difference. I figure it's all about percentages - another 50 pounds from your current weight will be a bigger difference than the last 50. For ease of math, let's say we started at 250 and lost 50 pounds - that's a 20% drop in weight. But someone who starts at 150 and loses 50 pounds lost 33% of their weight. Big difference! Does that make sense?0

Good way to explain it!0

Congratulations Kimmy!
I've only lost 40 so far but I'm lucky enough to have a trainer who looks at my body from week to week and he notices a lot more than than I do- he has noticed that those weeks when I haven't lost weight my skin has tightened up, almost as if one week my body sheds and then the next week is rearranges stuff to adjust. This may be hasn't happened for you if your weight loss has been quicker- or age and your unique body may lead your body to shed a lot first and then tighten up later.
Also, I know that some people store weight much more internally, like around the organs under the muscle tissue instead of just under the skin- and that fat around the organs is much more dangerous, so getting rid of that has huge health effects.
Another thing I did that really helped me mentally was go to one of those fancy bra places where they really fit you, and get the right size bra for me. Since I lost a lot of weight around my ribs, once I lifted up 'the girls' I looked a lot better and carried myself better.
Best of luck on the rest of your journey- 52 pounds really is amazing and you should know that your body is thanking you even if you can't always hear it.

I have lost approx 70 pounds myself over the past year. (Gained almost 10 pounds back over Christmas this year!)
I am tall - 5 feet 8 inches and until I lost about 30 or so pounds, no one even noticed. I guess some people say
when you are tall you "distribute" your weight better. LOL Well, it didn't feel good but no one would have ever
believed I was pushing 250 pounds.
So, I officially started MFP at 248 pounds in April of 2011 . . I am currently at 180ish pounds with about 30 more to
go approximately. I did not start losing pant sizes right away either. I was wearing mostly size 20's, didn't drop to
an 18 for months (!!) and now I am finally in size 14's and some 12's.
