Calculating Daily Activity Level

Hello to all you experienced MFP-ers! I am relatively new to MFP but not a first timer for weight loss. Lost over 50lbs a few years back but with a job change, move and such I gained it all back.

My question to all you experienced MFP-ers out there is this:

How would you calculate your daily activity level between the four levels MFP gives you in settings to get your daily caloric intake number.

For the job I do, I tend to walk (granted at a very slow pace and it's start and stop for the most part) for the majority of the days that I work. I walk at least a combined total of 3 hours per day - some more, some less.

What would be my best option?

1) Count my daily activity level as "Lightly active"

2) Count my daily acitvity level as "sedetary" and log the amount of time I am walking at work into the exercise diary?

Thanks everyone!

  • I'm a teacher, so I spend a good portion of my work day on my feet in my classroom and walking around the school. I chose lightly active for my level, since it's easier than logging specific amounts of walking every day. Some days I sit more, like this week when we have exams, so I'll be mindful of that and incorporate more walking at other times of the day.
