Anyone else watching 'when diets go wrong' on Really channel (UK)?

showing a woman who had to have her gallbladder removed after been on very low cal replacement meals and the surgeon had told her she was the third person on same diet who he had removed their gallbladder!

I'm watching cos I saw ad of it where woman mentioned menopause starting early so waiting to see what diet she was on that triggered it, as I have started getting symptoms of peri-menopause these last two months and I'm only 42. (dieting since June 2011)

Gallbladder disease can happen to anyone, especially women over 40. Losing weight rapidly can bring on an attack, but lots of healthy people are walking around with gallstones that don't bother them. If you don't already have gallstones, you're a lot more likely to get them from being overweight in the first place. The risk factors for gallstones are five F's: fair (skin), fat, female, forties, and family history.

Severe weight loss can cause your hormones to become dormant. Your body senses it's not a good time to get pregnant. Primitive people don't go through puberty until their late teens, because their diet is much less calories than our teens'. But if you are going that much below your ideal weight, you'll feel like crap. If you feel good, you're on the right track.
