Um , calorie dense HEALTHY CLEAN food?!?! Nuts, seeds, natural pb and nut butters, coconut/olive oil, or have a protein shake.
  • I started MFP about 2 weeks ago and have a hard time eating strictly healthy foods and getting close to 1400 calories. I tried eating every couple hours but sometimes I am too full from the last meal to eat.

I had started adding some unhealthy foods just to make sure I reach my calories given for the day because I have been told it is very important to eat your calories. I have still been losing weight but is this ok to eat whatever I want? I feel guity when I'm supposed to be losing weight and I'm eating a cheeseburger (for example).

    Any tips?

No food is healthy or unhealthy on its own, unless of course it is potentially poisonous, like fugue ;).
I would focus in getting a good assortment of vitamin rich food (fruits and veggies) as well as adequate protein, but beyond that, eat whatever. Don't feel guilty. Excessive restriction coupled with guilt is a good recipe for falling off the wagon.

It's not necessary to eat clean to lose weight. You should be consuming at least what MFP sets for you at a weight loss of two pounds per week (plus exercise calories/accurate activity level). However, you can definitely make healthy choices that are higher in calories. You can check out my diary for some ideas. I usually eat around 1610-1860 calories/day (active with a weight loss of one or half a pound per week) and eat mostly clean. Ignore the last few days because I had my wisdom teeth removed on Friday and can't eat solid food. I eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Most of my calories come from whole grains, protein, and healthy unsaturated fats.

I have found that if I eat processed foods or fast food, even if I stay within my allowed calories, that I won't lose weight for a couple of days. Same thing with wine or beer. I think all the chemicals and preservatives in foods makes me hang on to the pounds. So, if I'm really trying to lose, I have to stick to fresh fruits and veggies and plain grilled lean meat. Loading up on lots of veggies is really key. Good luck!
