hi friends. i have a bit of an issue. i am just NOT HUNGRY. like, at all. the thought of food literally makes me gag. i have been sick on and off since...oh, September. in October, my doctor diagnosed me with IBS and basically said there was nothing to do but roll with the symptoms and try to keep as stress free as possible. i do yoga weekly and try to exercise at least 4 times a week, and take time for myself.
in December i was given a diagnosis of insulin resistance and PCOS and put on metformin to help regulate my insulin (my blood sugar is fine). however, last Sunday i got RIDICULOUSLY ill and i attributed it to the metformin. my doctor switched it to the XR type to be gentler on my stomach. while i'm not violently vomiting or crapping myself any longer, i'm just not hungry. part of it is due to the constant feelings of nausea.
i am also on a high protein, lower-carb diet from the metformin, so the things that i want to eat (bread, pasta, etc) i just can't do. i'm also a vegetarian. any suggestions of what i should eat to get some calories in?
i have tried peanut butter, cottage cheese, normal cheese, eggs, chili...and food in my stomach, in general, just makes me feel worse. perhaps smoothies? i know it's important to eat daily to keep my metabolism and well, body functioning.
i have an appt. with my doc in February and am trying to get in sooner, but he's booked pretty tightly =\
