I started using the Life Fitness Strength Training machines at my local YMCA and I have no idea if I'm logging it in my diary correctly.

Does anyone have any experience with these types of machines? How much is every level in pounds?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Life Fitness is a brand, not a 'type' of machine. They make everything from treadmills, steppers, bikes to weight machines. Can you describe the exercise or machine?

As for the calories burned, you can use the 'weight training' item in the cardio section to give you an estimate, but it is rally variable depending on the amount of effort you put in, rest periods, other exerrcises etc.

Also depends upon your weight and amount of exersion - depending on fitness level - lots of variables

Well, I'm curious as to what each resistance counts as. I watched the videos on line how to use the machines, but I don't know how much to log.

For example, if I did 3 sets of 20 at a resistance level of 5 then how many pounds is that? 50lbs?

It sounds like you are using the circuit machines. The resistance levels on those machines does not translate into any particular number of "pounds". It's only relative to itself -- i.e. 5 is heavier than 4 is heavier than 3, etc.

If you are doing sets of 20, I suppose you could try "circuit training", but to be honest, nothing -including an HRM--is really going to give you anything more than a rough estimate. It's not really that much --probably no more than 4-5 cals/min.
