Tongue Patch Surgery for weight loss (CRAZY)

If you haven't heard about it, it's a patch that a doctor sews onto the patients tongue, which stays on for 4 weeks, but no longer for safety reasons (not sure what those are). Basically, the patch makes it painful to even talk for two weeks and impossible to eat solid foods (because of it being too painful). Then the last two weeks the patient can talk without pain, but still not eat solid foods... without serious pain, that is.

The theory behind this is that the patients don't have the willpower to stick with a liquid diet, and this will make it too painful to do anything but liquid foods. They pay $2,000 for it too... and the weight is almost guaranteed to come back on immediately after they go back to their old eating habits.

I can't even imagine. I can't imagine a doctor thinking it up! I'm flabbergasted.

If I had any say, I'd make the doctors who wish to perform this surgery, first sample a tongue patch on their own tongue for 30 days... just to make sure it's not cruel and unusual punishment.
