MFP and vitamins

According to my MFP Diary I've been over my C and A-vitamins almost every day since summer. Today I logged half a grapefruit and it already claimed that I'm 248% over my daily vitamin C goal. How is that even possible? What does MFP base those daily goals on?

Now I know it's not that dangerous to get too much C-Vitamin from food (vitamin pills are a different issue tho). My Dr. said a few days back that it's impossible to get "too much" Vitamin C from food, according to him you'd have to eat like 25 oranges a day to get too much and even then you'd just pee it out (which eventually will get too heavy on your kidneys).

So how does MFP calculate my daily vitamin goals? I'm a little confused.

I think the vitamin goals come from the government's recommended daily allowances. You only really need to worry about getting too much of the fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K). The water soluble ones you'll just pee out the extra. The amount of those fat soluble ones that you'd need to get sick from too much is pretty high though.
