Hi!

A lot of people on here say that substitute oil with applesauce? What is this stuff? Am I being weird for not knowing - or is it a US thing?

Let me know - as it is super confusing, and if I can do it with recipes or whatever - then I will be saving myself a BUNCH of calories :D

Is it better to make my own applesauce from cooking apples? Does anyone have a recipe? x

Just peel & cube them up, add 1 tbsp lemon juice & some cinnamon... about 1/4-1/2 cp water & let them simmer with the lid on about 30-45 minutes. That's it. They are sweet enough but you could always add a little stevia or sugar, depending on how you eat.
  • If you have a Whole Foods near you, you can buy pureed apples which are exactly the same thing. (I moved to Scotland from the US five years ago and was super excited to find the pureed apples!)

I usually do sub in applesauce for part of, if not all the oil depending on what I'm making. I also tend to use it in place of eggs in baking as well.

Sounds odd but I also use baby food in replace of eggs and oil in a lot of my baking and cooking.
