Walked into bestbuy 3 months ago, took bberry out, and before I could say anything the sales guy said, "it's time isn't it?". Walked out 30 min later with iPhone. Had bberry withdraw for the first two days, love it now.0

Isn't a blackberry a smartphone? I have the Blackberry Torch 9800 and I love it. The main reason I got it is because I HATE how I-phones are only a touchpad. There is no actual place to type other than the screen. The Torch I bought has a slide out keyboard so I can either type on screen or type on the keyboard. That was the main reason I chose it.
I can use internet, download apps, chat with other BB users.
I have no complaints...0 -
Well i swapped my old iphone for the blackberry, was very happy as BB was faster and better, then after few months i have noticed that i actually miss iphone so its up to you.
if you had an iphone then stick to it if not try it. it can be very slow esp internet but design is lovely0 -
I HATE my Blackberry. Hate doesn't even begin to describe my feelings about it actually. I have many issues with it all the time, it freezes up, it was stuck on roaming all weekend actually, it can be very slow.0

Well, RIM isn't doing too great (Blackberry) http://mobilesyrup.com/2012/01/23/rim-ceo-i-will-not-in-anyway-split-this-up-or-separate-this-into-different-businesses-audio/
But on that note, I have owned about 6-7 Blackberries in my time, but when I got my first Android Phone, I looked back and realized what a waste of Hardware Upgrades those BB'ies(Blackberry) was. The browser is just - below sub-par, the keys are small at best, the apps are boring and BBM(Blackberry Messenger) is overrated. Not to mention Battery Pulls and the infamous "spinning clock" or Sand-Timer, very laggy and checkerboards in Browsing when scrolling. I implore you, don't buy it. LOL.
Personally I am using an IPhone 3GS and love it, but prior to that I was using a beast of a phone - HTC Raider running Androids OP 2.3 - until I dropped it in the sink and it died - buuuttt, I was looking for used phones on my local Kijiji (like Craigs list) and would NOT buy another BB, no matter how much cheaper it would be for me. So I went and bought a used IPhone, but if Android was a viable option price wise (they hold their value well, better than BB) then It would of been that over IPhone.
My order of best<least is:
Android Smartphones
IPhone
Windows 7
BlackBerry
BUT, I know I said DON"T BUY IT, BUT, BUT - if Texting is your thing, and the key-size work for you, you like messengering to other BB contacts, then it's a fine phone. I just thing it's too easy to outgrow and there's other better choices out there.0 -

HTC interface is probably the best out right now.0 -
i have had a BB for years and always swore by it, but feeling like its a bit of a dinosaur lately. My contract is up in May and am searching now for options. I think if you get the touch screen its ok, but web browsing does take forever.
Good luck!0 -
I have the Blackberry Torch...love it! Touchscreen and keyboard. This is my second Blackberry product, and they are great, imo..0

I've had a Pearl, a Curve, a Bold, and both Torches. I had the Torch 9800 for a year, and then I got the Torch 9810 which is almost identical to the 9800 but new OS and faster processor and other small changes. I love BlackBerry, but then again, if I want to play games I'll do it on the PC. I went from BlackBerry to iPhone for exactly 2 months before I gave my iPhone to my son to use as an iPod. Then I went back to BlackBerry. I love the keyboard, the email, the security, my LED lights, and BlackBerry Messenger.
The internet is not slow on the 9810, and probably not on the new Bold either.0 -
OP, What do you need your phone to do? The only real reason I could see getting a BB is because of the physical keyboard. Beyond that, they are terrible. iPhone and Andriod are so far ahead it's not even funny.0

I have the new Blackberry Torch and I love it...0

HTC interface is probably the best out right now.
I really, really liked the HTC. On Rogers - Canadian Company, they hadn't any HTC Devices for awhile since some dispute or another, or some infringement on IPhone - whatever. But I really was always a fan of HTC's hardware, more metal over plastic (Samsung) and their HTC Sense, is appealing and workable.
I had the Samsung Galaxy S Captive and loved it, but had to sell it at one point. Regretted it. But was so elated when I had my HTC Raider, and of course God saw I was happy, and said: "No" and PLOP - <Insert sink, phone dies> - LOL - kidding, I know god wouldn't do that.
...Or would he.
Kidding. Lol.
But in all seriousness, I hope OP goes for something more reformed than Blackberry. They're basically the same devices, painted a different colour, added megapixel and branded a new name for a higher price.0 -
I have one, it does okay as far as a work phone, but I want something that is fun. RIM can't seem to keep up with Apple, and Google, so I'm switching ASAP. I also heard that RIM's Co-CEO resigned.0

I utterly hate my blackberry. I recommend an Android based phone. My husband has the GOOGLE phone and it rocks.
My wife was the same way. I switched to Android, she was still rocking the BB. She switched to Android the second our contract was up.
The Blackberry was a decent phone. However, I've owned more than a couple of them and they all seem to crap out after a year. The same thing happened to my wife.
As someone else stated RIM (the company that manufacturers BlackBerry) isn't doing so hot right now. It's questionable where that company will be down the road, something to consider if you need support for your new phone.
The iPhone or many of the Android devices out there would be a good choice for a smartphone.0 -
I have a BB Bold for work. It is ok. Better than the BB I had before. Would not ever get for my own phone.
My personal phone is Android. HTC Evo Shift & I love it!0 -
>>>>>To the poster above, they all have free GPS (BB, Android, and iPhone).<<<<<
I have the Droid Razr right now and love it. I had a droid previous to this one as well. Before I got the Razr I was considering the iphone, but they told me that the navigation on the iphone was not free like it is on the droid. (that wasn't the only reason I stuck with droid tho) Personally I think the iphone is way over rated anyway. I can't see anything that it does that a droid doesn't. Just my opinion!0 -
Blackberries are sadly not the best performance wise. They are unbeatable when it comes to security at least that's what I've heard. Overall though, iPhone and Android are the best experience if you plan on web surfing and downloading some pretty intense games.0

Decide what you want to use it for first.
Blackberry is great for email and calendar. Very secure, but doesn't control apps.
iPhone is great for music, games, apps. Secure and controls apps (unless jailbroken).
Android is typically cheaper and games and apps. Not secure and doesn't control apps.
If you're torn between them, go to the store and touch them. See how they feel to you, how intuitive they are. Each was designed for different people, so one will "fit" you better.0 -

What? Android didn't get enough justice here. How do you mean not secure?0 -
Blackberry has been dying a slow painful death for the past 4 years or so.0
