Hi everyone, I'm new here and I'm looking for opinions on my goal and whether I'm taking a leap in the right direction.
To start off, here are my stats (as measured by PT this morning, 1/23/12): 5'7", 172 lbs, BMI= 27, Body Fat %= 29.9. Also- I'm 25, F.
My goal is to lose at least 22 lbs in 23 weeks (150lbs by July 2012). My stretch goal would be 143... so 30 lbs, but again, thats just a STRETCH which I can always continue to work toward.
-Currently eating ~1330 cals/day and having 100oz per day of water.
-Starting last week I do 45 min cardio 5x per week, plus 30 min weight training (w/PT) 2x per week.
This morning was my first consultation with my PT. He said to start off with a goal of getting me down to 25% body fat. Also, I'm a little worried because he is hesitant to tell me my 20lb goal is do-able (which I partly understand, since he just met me and doesn't want to "promise" me anything). However I guess I'm just looking for at little comfort in knowing that this plan will help me reach my goal (150lbs by July).

When I met my trainer for the first time I expected to lose a lot of weight in a minimal amount of time, I had "Biggest loser" expectations. First week with my trainer and not eating the healthiest (at the time I thought I was) I lost 10lbs and 19 inches. It took me a full year to lose 20lbs with a trainer.
I realized that even though I was working out my nutrition was better than it had been, but compared to now it was still crap! Nutrition for me was the biggest key and this past year I have lost inches but I have moved up and down from 188-201 lbs, frustrating because I haven't seen the numbers on the scale move down the way I wanted to. I have set a new goal, where I would like to be a size 10 by my Birthday in May and a size 6 by the end of 2012.
My point is try to make small attainable goals, if the scale isn't co-operating like it has been for me then take measurements and go by sizes. It has helped me continue this journey because I have re-evaluated my goals in the forms of being healthier and measurements, At this point if I'm a size 6 and still weigh 201lbs then so be it, I know for myself that I am healthier and I am in better shape then I have been in years.
Is your goal attainable? could be, depends on your body and how it is reacting to what your are doing both exercise and nutrition. Try not to beat yourself up if you you haven't reached your goal, remember where you started and where you are now and how better you feel because of it.
Best of luck on your journey!0 -

I really like this part. As Sugarbean said, it depends on how your body reacts. That is what Im doing right now. Seeing how my body reacts to this extreme diet. And it is all trial and error.
good luck!0 -

I agree, thanks. And yes, I agree that it's not all going to be in the scale- I just need to get rid of those thoughts and dependency on the scale to tell me "how I'm doing" and start relying on the fit of clothes.0
