Can't seem to lose weight

Hey everyone,
I've always watched my weight and for the past few years have never ate more than 1500 cals a day.
The problem is I don't seem to be able to lose weight at all, I've lowered my intake to 1000-1200 cals over the past two months and I've actually gained weight.....I don't know what to do...I don't want to starve myself either!
I started exercising more too but that doesn't seem to have helped either....
Help!

You are probably not getting enough calories, and your body is going into starvation mode or fighting to hang on to those pounds. Use the tools on this website, and you will find that eating more will help you to weigh less!! Best to you, always

how much do you weigh? how much of a deficit were you putting yourself a on a 1500 cal diet? you only want to lose 17 lbs, which isn't a lot, are you already at a healthy BMI? Your body can't sustain itself on 1000-1200 cals a day, especially if you are already at a healthy weight.0

Completely agree. Doesn't sound like you're eating nearly enough calories, especially if you're exercising. Try to eat 5-6 small meals (both a carb and a protein in one meal), fruit, veggies, drink plenty of water, 4-5 days of cardio and 2-3 days of strength training. You need to eat to lose weight. I know that's hard to get through your head, but it's true. You've got to change your mind-set to get the scale moving. You can do it! :happy:0

I weigh 150lbs at the moment, I'm normally 147 but I put on more weight for some strange reason...
I'm 5ft 8 so I'm a healthy BMI, I just wanted to lose a few pounds but its not shifting. I tried eating more before but I just put on a ton of weight...its really annoying, I can't lose weight if I eat less and I can't lose weight if I eat more either...I'm just stuck0 -
Hmmm. Have you checked with your doctor? Maybe there is something else going on that you're not aware of?0

It sounds like it's time for a more specific goal. What do you want to change? Your muscle definition? Your pant size? Your strength? Endurance? A number on a scale doesn't say anything about your body composition.0

Perhaps you are at a healthy weight and it's the right weight for your body. Focus on a non-weight goal.0
