Does anybody have any input on a cheaper way to eat cleaner?
An example menu of what you do could give me a better idea..

Thanks

By cleaner, you mean less processed? And what is your budget? Do you have a Trader Joe's, Shop Rite, or Save a Lot nearby?

I see you have a Trader Joe's about 20 minutes from you (you should really be more careful about what you post online!) Trader Joe's is GREAT for produce. Bananas are usually 19 cents each, apples are 29 cents each, and they have what they call the Fearless Flyer, where they tell you what they have for sale. Almost everything in the store is organic, and, apart from the meat, very low-priced. Shop Rite is also good for fruit and veg, but it's usually got a shorter life than something you would get at TJs. Here are a few articles about eating clean on a budget:

As far as the menu, cleaneatingclub.com has a great selection of recipes. They are not numerous in each individual section, but they have some great ideas that may set off ideas of your own. Here's one, for example: http://cleaneatingclub.com/clean-eating-recipes/dinner/easy-bbq-chicken-sandwiches/

    Hope I've helped! Happy eating.

Local Butcher... I buy all my chicken breast from a local butcher which is all process free! Then just shop at a fresh fruit and veg "D

  • I would like to see some responses here.
I've been eating clean (I'd say 95% of the food I eat is natural, organic, etc) since Jan 1 and let me tell you... my grocery budget has skyrocketed! I am spending SO much more money... ugh. Worth it, obviously... but so hard on my bank account.

Also check out http://mrsbyn.blogspot.com. Great healthy, cheap recipes!
  • Some good tips here about what should be avoided most and how to go about eating clean on the cheap. Prioritizing and planning can keep you within your means. A weekly cooking day to freeze prepared foods and other tricks like making your own hummus, soups and nut butters is a good place to start.

  • It also would help to know what kind of access you have where you live. Some places, it can be very difficult to find resources.

I'm having this trouble as I live rural. you would think its easy here but a lot of farmers export. Eating "clean" costs a lot more here. I would love advice as well. I've been lucky going to Grocery Outlet if you have one.
