HCG (triumph) diet?

So I've heard of this new diet substance....HCG diet? I know miracle pills are not the best thing to resort to, but I was wondering if anyone had experience with it at all, or knows anyone who has taken it....good results? Bad results? Bad side effects? Any insight would be appreciated!

It's been banned by the FDA and is not a happy topic here.

You eat 500 calories a day and waste money on drops that don't do anything.

Eat healthy and exercise.. You'll be better off in the long run.

It is not legal for sale as a weight loss aid in some countries, US and Canada for sure, not sure about else where. Some doctors may prescribe it for an off label use as weightloss. Anything not prescribed by a doctor is not legal for sale.

    FDA says this
"HCG is approved by FDA as a prescription drug for the treatment of female infertility, and other medical conditions. It is not approved for weight loss. In fact, the prescription drug label notes there “is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction, that it causes a more attractive or ‘normal’ distribution of fat, or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie-restricted diets.”

HCG is not approved for OTC sale for any purpose."

All it is is a very low calorie diet. You will lose weight on a very low calorie diet with or without the drops. That doesn't mean it is a good thing either. There are a lot of side effects to a VLCD.

Babes, the HCG doesn't do anything - people lose weight because they're only allowed to eat 500 calories a day. Its dangerous.

Just stick with a moderate calorie deficit and shake your booty 30mins a day. You'll be fit, happy and healthy

    Dear Posters,

MyFitnessPal strongly recommends that our users follow the calorie guidelines automatically assigned by our site, unless they are under the direct supervision of a doctor. We are currently reviewing the medical literature on the HCG/500 calorie diet and reserve the right to moderate against discussions of this diet at any time in the future.

For the time being, HCG discussions remain an option for members in private Groups. Please remember that even in Groups, all site wide rules must be correctly moderated, or the Group runs the risk of deletion. Specifically, endorsement of purchasing prescription supplements or medications without a prescription is in violation of the MyFitnessPal posting guidelines, which can be reviewed here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/welcome/guidelines

Thank you all for your concern. We're definitely looking closely at this issue.
