Unjustified weight gain?

Hello world of MFP!
So i have gotten used to the fact that when I am sore, I will gain weight and then in about a week, it will return to normal. Last week, I did some weight lifting exercises on 3 separate days and I was sore for a while. On sat, i was up about 2.8 lbs. and today, I expected to be back to my normal weight but I am still up 1.6. I have been eating like I normally do, and could not have eaten that many extra calories. Any thoughts? I am getting back into MFP and its just so frustrating to see the numbers go in the opposite direction.
