    You eat food?

Sorry, not sure what you are asking...

As you log food that you are eating, it will subtract from your calories. When you log exercise, it will add to your calories (if you exercise, you can eat more. Lots of discussions on here about whether you should or should not "eat back" your exercise calories.). All of this will be calculated to produce a deficit that should help you lose whatever goal you set (ie, 1 lb a week).

Are you having trouble eating enough or eating the right food?
  • This may sound silly, but I plan my meals on MFP every morning before I start my day. I always have the same breakfast, so I enter that into the program, then I plan my lunch, dinner, and snacks and kind of play with the calories I have left. After a week or so, it's gotten a lot easier to meet my calorie goal without really thinking about it. If you actively plan and plug in measurements of food, you won't go over in calories simply by adjusting the ingredients of your meals, i.e. instead of 3 oz of salmon, make it 4 oz, or instead of fruit as a snack, I switch to pretzels and string cheese, etc. I am not sure if this helps you or not, but it certain has helped me keep on track.
