Ladies, weigh in "?"

SHould a woman weigh herself when she is on her period? I know we retain water, that's why I ask. I cheated and weighed myself the first day I got my period because I knew it would be in full swing once weigh day came. Does anyone here know how long on average water is retained? When would it be best to do a weigh in, before or after period? How long before or after? Etc, etc.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I would weigh in weekly, same day, same time, same place. No matter if you're on your period. Of course, you're going to have water weight, but on the bright side when you weight in the next time you'll have lost that water weight!! I always weight myself, and when you are on your period don't beat yourself up when you gain a pound or so. I'll come off, as it's just water weight.0

You could always weigh in as normal but put a little note against that week stating your period was occurring. That way, if your weight does rise for that week, you are safe in the knowledge that you know why and not because you fell off the wagon so to speak.0 -
I do not because I know that I always gain at least 5 lbs of water weight.0

I don't lol I know I'm bloated, why bum myself out0

I weigh myself every Friday morning regardless.0

Thanks for the insight ladies. I guess I just worry about everything as a source for failure because I'm 'just' starting out.... 'again'. I suppose I won't let a little water gain keep me down. Thanks again!!0

Mentally, I can't. Because I always end up gaining around 5 - 7 lbs of water weight, and it ends up messing with my thought process. Of course I know that it's because of my period, and is not fat gained, but still, for some reason, I just can't keep that reasoning while standing on the scale seeing those extra pounds.0

To truly know for you, maybe for a few months, around the time of your period - before, during, after, weigh yourself to see what your body does. What mine does is likely different from you.0

Usually about 3-5 lbs and it's best to weigh yourself once a week and in the morning before you eat or drink anything.....you retain fluid as the day goes on. So you get a better more accurate reading in the morning.0

I'll weigh myself under any situation, but I don't get hung up on the number. Weighing during that time, or after a binge at a party, or after heavy exercising, or any other "gonna show a gain" situation taught me to understand my body better, so fluctuations don't bother me. I know I can gain 8 pounds after a luau, or 5 pounds after shrimp alfredo with garlic bread, or 3 pounds after pepperoni pizza... and none of those gains are true weigh gain.0

I weigh myself every Friday morning, regardless.. My period is due this Thursday and I will probably be up but I will still weigh.. If Im up, oh well but if Im down, I will log it.. I won't change my weight logged to reflect a gain during that week of the month because sometimes I lose like normal and sometimes Im up.0

I weigh myself every morning irregardless of my period. I usually start my water retention 2-3 days BEFORE my period starts and then 2 days after it starts, the water goes too. Then I get on the scale and get all excited that I lost lik 6 lbs over night. LOL0
