Is your Heart Rate Monitor like this?

I bought a HRM the other night and I do like it but.... I thought it would KEEP track of my heart rate the entire time I was exercising and then give me what my calories burned were. But... I have a button located at the bottom of the screen that I have to push for 5 secs then it gives me what my heart rate is and calculates what my calories burned would be if it stayed that rate. Once I push it again it recalculates. Does yours do this?

    that sounds like a heart rate monitor watch. did your HRM come with a chest strap?

    No it did not.... is that what I am missing?

    I don't mind this one, I tend to check mine about every 2 mins or so, but it can get annoying too...
