I'm 42 and have been on diet since last June. I've lost 2 and half stone from 12st 7 to 10st. I'm 5ft 3 and half and medium build.. i looked up for both 5ft 3 and 5ft 4 as there was nothing for inbetween but for both 129/130lb was about nicely in the middle.

I've been weighing in on Wii Fit fortnightly and it says I should be 9st 3 (i put height in as 5ft 4 as it won't do halves) and BMI 22.

I'm now wondering if I can get to that weight without looking like a skeleton. I've lost weight off face, neck, can see collarbones and ribs, my arms were thin anyway (and legs are not too bad considering I've been in wheelchair the last 6 yrs) All my weight was around my waist and tummy. it was waist 38" and tummy 48 " and now waist is 31" but tummy is still 35 " .. I was hoping to get both to 30"

Dropping wheat has helped to flatten tummy loads and it seems I do have a wheat intolerance so will be staying wheat free, but also have hypothyroidism and going through peri-menopause.. so wondering if my goal is realistic?

I'll be thrilled to get to 9st anything again (1 lb off 9st 13) but I really wanted to lose a bit more tummy but don't want to be left with rest of body looking like skeleton and still ending up with a little pouch!

I'm wondering If I'll be better working on tummy and settling for anything in the 9st range? After learning about muscles on here I'd rather be a little more rounded (curvy and in proportion I mean.. lol!) and 9st 8 - 9st 12 than getting to lower weight but looking like a pregnant skeleton! :noway:

Also I think people look older when they lose too much weight off face and I've always had a young face with been a little 'chubby' and usually at the top end of healthy for my height at the time or overweight.

I'll try and get a picture taken tomorrow to see how much more people think I should lose, my webcam doesn't take very good pic with house lights on when its dark!

First congraduations on losing the inches and pounds, you are obviously on the right track. My advice to you concerning your weight is to get with your doctor and ask him where you should be. I say this because for the longest time I was trying to reach the recommended goal weight for my height and regardless of how hard I worked, always fell short. When my doc asked me why I thought my health was only fair I told him because I was 10 pounds over my "ideal" weight as set by the medical community. The same people you are trying to base your weight off of. Long story short, he took some measurements and made some caluclatiions and told me that I had no business being at that weight, in fact I was currently under weight for my body type. What a relief that was to hear. As for the tummy, crunches will strenghten the muscles but not burn the fat right there, just keep doing what you are doing, and it will come off. Have you tried adding weights to your workout? That might help with those last few stubbern inches. Good luck and again congradulations on how far you have already come.

do you know what measurements and calculations he made so I know what to ask my doctor for?.. I'm not sure how to word it.. 'can you measure me and see if I'm still fat for my body?.. lol! .. he'll think he's got a nutcase!

The weight range I got off another site was anywhere between 8st 7 and 10st 7 but it didn't mention body frame sizes at all so according to that one I'm now within my healthy range and my BMI is under 25 now, but according to other chart I'm not there yet! (as I fit medium frame based on wrist measurements) ..my thumb and little finger touch wrapped around wrist, middle finger overlaps.

Edit: my BMR is now only 1,280 but at the recommended 1/2lb a week for about 10lb to lose it gives me 1,350cals!
