want to lose 100 pounds or more? I want to lose 172 pounds, which I have already lost 32 pounds of it. I was just wondering how many people are in the same goal range as me.

My original goal was 100 lbs. I have lost 13 so far. It has been a very slow process.

    Congrats on your weight loss.

    You are not alone!!!

thanks, and congrats on the 13 pounds, you are doing great.
  • I want to loose at least 115 if not more. It seems like such a long journey but I am just taking it one day at a time and even though I have tried many times in the past. My biggest thing is to just be healthy. I am trying to remember that I want to be able to walk around amument parks without feeling worn out and I want to go on roller coasters without having to squish into the seats.

My orignal goal was 100 pounds to put me at 160 where I have been before and felt so good, but that is still in the over weight BMI so I changed it to 140 so that I can be 130-120 depending on how I look. I'm 5'6 and I don't want to look crazy skinny I like my big bum.

I think that is a good goal for you. I orignally thought that I would try to get down to 185, but it is still overweight for me, so I changed it to 120, I am only 5'1/2".

I want to lose 185 pounds. That will put me at 160. I'm 5'8' . I have a question. Do you all eat some or all of your exercise calories? I started doing Lesley Sansone's Walk Away The pounds 3 mile walk last week plus I do a 2 mile power walk outside every day. I did both wokouts every day last week. I ate 1,500 calories a day. How important is it to have your net calories be at 1,200 calories if you have alot to lose? Jeeze those 2 workouts burn 900 calories. I would have to eat 2,100 calories a day to have my net at 1,200. I don't think I would lose eating that much. I ask all this because I lost no weight last week even though I burned 900 calories a day and ate 1,500 a day. I realy need advice on this. Thanks, Cindy

Banks has written a few posts about this, but basically, those of us in the obese weight range can safely have a larger deficit than 1000 calories per day, so it's okay for us to not eat our exercise calories. MFP says I should be eating 1470 calories per day, but because I am morbidly obese, I have set my calories to 1100 a day. I typically go over that allottment, but I am finding that I don't go over 1400, which is what MFP suggested anyway. Somehow setting my calories lower than what MFP suggests just helps me to spread out my calorie intake over the course of a day. I don't always eat my exercise calories, as it's not as important for me to eat them since I have so much weight to lose. However, yesterday I worked out hard and I felt hungry, so I ate them.

Edited to actually answer your question lol. I don't know why you wouldn't have lost weight last week. It seems that somewhere you must be miscalculating your calories. Are you using a heart rate monitor to measure your calories burned or are you just using MFP's estimates? The heart rate monitor will give you a much more accurate reading. And are you counting calories for every bite that you put into your mouth? Also, how long have you been working on weight loss? If this the first week or have you been working at it for awhile? Those sorts of things will be helpful in actually determining why you didn't lose last week.

i don't WANT to lose 100+ pounds, I WILL lose 100+ pounds, ideal BMI is 21 (130 pounds) but I can live with anything close to that as long as I look and feel good about myself

cindy, there have been many threads here about eating the calories, i've come to the conclusion you just best do what works for you and also has you satisfied. you don't want to wake up in the middle of the night craving everything and anything that can be eaten because you have put yourself on a too low calorie budget. plus losing weight this fast is really not healthy. i lost a lot last week and my blood pressure went low again. it also happened after i RAISED my food intake. i had me at sedentary and changed it to lightly active. i am absolutely sedentary since i work from home and have no kids to run after or much chores whatsoever. (although i now move a lot more at home but i don't count this as excercise or anything, so i may as well be 'lightly active' for real) however, i came to the conclusion that these 1260 calories or so were far too few for a big girl, while the 1460 for lightly active is just perfect for me. i don't care about excercise calories anymore since they are by popular opinion not correct in the databases and i don't have HRM. some days i burn less than 200, other days i burn more. if i have really moved too much, I try to eat another 200 more or about 1660 altogether. i don't think i burn over 800 calories usually, so that means i eat at least half my excercise calories on any given day. i never eat more than ~1660 or 400 extra over sedentary because i don't feel hungrier than that. it seems to be working so far, if i happen to plateau i will change my settings. i am not telling anyone to do it this way, just try varying a little and see what works best

I eat 50-80% of the exercise calories, it just depends on the day and how many I have. If I have a lot then I will eat half of them. I hope this helps.

Oh and I want to add MFP says I can have 1,700 calories a day without exercise. I don't even eat all my calories withought exercise. 1,500 calories seems like alot to me. I am eating healthy food. Mostly lean meats, dairy, fruits, veggies and a healthy carb thrown in here and there. I eat 3 meals a day plus 3 snacks. I am sooo confused.

I know it sounds crazy but you are probably not losing because you are eating too less. if it calculates 1700, then you have to eat at least this many calories to lose weight consistently. i also find 1700 a bit too much food but its either your BMI is higher or your lifestyle is more active. i started MFP at about 1400 for sedentary lifestyle, it keeps dropping as you lose weight (you have to update your goals every now and then)

oh, i'm sure you can make it to 1700, it's really not hard - replace all the low fat and low calorie stuff with the complete calorie stuff and there you are. it's also supplying you with better nutrition because reduced calorie means they take the real nutrition out of a product and substitute with something artificial that your body doesn't even need at all
  • I just signed up for this site today and I want to lose about 139 pds. So far I have lost about 26 pounds. I am going to lose it. I just wish it didnt take forever!

Hoping to lose 266 lbs, and then re-evaluate my goal. That would still put me in the overweight range, but I've got a pretty large frame (wrists 7.75 inches) and I'm pretty tall. Lost 21 lbs in a month here at MFP. Jump right in, its a pretty helpful place!
  • I am....my first goal is to lose 100 lbs by the end of the year (sooner if possible) and then I will work on the remainging 20. Im tall too 5'9, 290lbs, no one believes I weigh this much. But summer is coming and I dont want to be feelin all fat and sweaty.....who can relate?????

    Wish me luck...
