Arthroscope on my knee - pre and post surgery suggestions.

I'm having arthroscopic surgery on my knee in a month to repair a torn cartilage under my knee cap.

My surgeon suggested that I build up the muscles around my knee as much as I can before surgery, so my trainer and I have been doing a lot of stuff for hip flexors etc.

I do BodyPump twice a week, and do the squats track with no weight on, and don't do the lunges track. (the surgeon said to go easy on squats and avoid lunges, travelling lunges in particular)...

Does anyone have any suggestions for other low impact, knee friendly exercises for both pre and post op?

My trainer said we'll do seated boxing on my first few weeks back from surgery, and then build it up after that.

I'm not a strong swimmer, and the aqua-aerobics classes are all in work hours, but after the scars have healed I thought I might do some walking in the pool.
