Was just curious about this, surely a lot of those girls must be way under the "healthy" range of 18.5 to 25 but I wonder what it actually works out to be?

    Mine is 24 lol, the girl i worked with yesterday looked on the lower end of the scale and she was 6ft :noway:

    I know a girl who modeled. She was my height (5'10) and weighed 115 pounds. That gives her a BMI of 16.5. After the deaths of a few supermodels due to their extreme low weights though, a lot of agencies have begun insisting that they have a BMI of at least 18.

    I read something recently that most models have the BMI of a diagnosed anorexic (less than 17.5)

    Surely anorexia is diagnosed as a mental illness, and low weight is merely a symptom (albeit a good indicator!). I think it's massively unfair for any health system to have a set weight for diagnosing anorexia.

    its good the agencies are trying to change people's attitudes to what attractive is, though I am sure they don't all do this. I saw on America's Next Top Model once they sent a girl home because she was clearly skin and bone but she just couldn't see it herself. They said it would be promoting an unhealthy body image and attitude towards food. Fair play to them, I was surprised they took that view so it was good to see.

    I saw that episode too. I wasn't too surprised because Tyra is a plus-sized model too. But she's beautiful. I felt so sad for that girl. She is very pretty, but she really was skin and bones.
