Failing miserably

Everyday I wake up with best intentions and am good all day. I eat small meals every 2-3 hours and have about 450 calories left for dinner but I get home and the last thing I want is anything I have at home. I end up getting take out or binging on other stuff. I cant believe that the hours from 6pm-8pm are totally holding me back. It's been 2 months since I started this and just keep screwing up. ugh! it's so frustrating. I should be at 189 pounds right now not 206!!!

Take a deep breath. I can speak for myself - I'm not perfect and trust me I'm going to have my moments. You're not in this alone, because trust me I've been there before and it's extremely frustrating. The problem with binging for what I've seen is that binge foods are easy - they don't take any time to make - they're just available.

It's going to take time. We're all there for you! I wish you the best.

    Been there.
    There now.
Havent lost a pound since Feb 1st.
I bomb on weekends and pig out at night ... and rationalize my way right through it.

Here are some things that are helping me:

-watch The Biggest Loser tonight. It is very inspiring. They ran a 1/2 marathon last week.
-Sign up for a race. I am doing a 5k in May. Walk it if you have to. But set it up as you want to be ready for it.
-Hang your bathing suit on your fridge handle
    -Wear it arounf the house
-I hung my favorite dress in my kitchen as well
    - Eat fiberous foods prior to your witching hour -- celery and hummus, FiberOne cereal (it fills you up), make a salad while dinner is cooking, buy hot cocoa fat free sugar free...

Hope this helps. These are some of the changes I made this week and I feel pretty good.

perhaps if you pre-planned your dinner first thing in the morning, or even the night before, had those calories set aside for dinner already, and knew what you planned on having, you can get it in your head and it will sound better, and then the rest of the day you can fill in all the other times with the calories you have left.

I find this helps me keep on track and not have a bunch of calories left over or go over either.

good luck and hang in there.

Hang on in there. i think most of us go through stages like this. I have just started on the site, but find that i plan my next days meals in advance and try to prepare the meals in advance I am more likely to stick to it rather than just grab something easy.

    Best of luck, K

What if you start allowing yourself the take-out with no guilt ..by accounting for those calories and eating lighter during the day?..of course you may have to work out more but its worth a shot

Don't be so hard on yourself. I have recently found my slow cooker to be my best friend. Not only does it force you to plan your meals in advance, dinner is waiting for you at home. You will be less tempted to grab something easy on the way home. The newest ones have timers that you can set for the cooking time and then switch it to warm. And things freeze really well for easy meals in a couple weeks. I found a great cookbook called Fix-It and Forget-It. There are several of these books available. Good Luck!!!
  • Hang in there. This lifestyle change as I am frequently reminded is not an easy task. It is easier to reach for junk food than health food. Something that works for me is to pre-plan my meals. I enter breakfast, lunch and snacks in the morning. I know how much I have for dinner and eat accordingly.
After dinner I click on meal completed for the day button and nothing but water does into my mouth until the next day. In the evening I drink plenty of water and stay busy checking child's homework, doing housework, reading etc. before bedtime. If I am busy I do not think about eating.

This is not an easy task. It is one day at a time. You will do well, be patient with yourself.

I feel your pain - but hang in! We'll get through it. This is a long-haul process, and don't forget, it's lifestyle changes. We just have to learn to change.

I love the idea of pre-planning dinner ... I think I'm going to take that advice tonight (and in the future).

    You'll get it!! :flowerforyou:

Do you pack something to eat between getting home and being home? Why cant your take out be take out but be healthy?? Whats happening at home causing this? You need to ask yourself these questions and more and get to the bottom of it! You are on the right track===keep going!!
