should you drink more water during your period? i know that you automatically weigh more during that time (which it why i've hidden my scale!), but would drinking extra water/ fluids help at all? what's the reason behind the weight gain in the first place?

I have always heard that you need to drink more water and intake no caffeine or salty foods during TOM.

I believe the weight gained is just water-weight from bloating. Cutting down on salty foods during TOM will help reduce the bloating and some of the weight gain we get. A tleast, the week after our TOM, we lose extra water weight and end up a bit thinner. Or so it seems.

Drinking water actually helps your body to not retain water. I know...it's weird.

Yes, more actually.....otherwise your body will retain the water it has and you will feel more bloated.

The weight gain during your period is water weight .During your TOM you should try to stay away from salty foods .And drink drink drink that water because it helps flush you out and keeps your body from retaining fluid.

I've always been under the impression that the water weight gain has something to do with our bodies trying to reduce the pain... but maybe that's just my wishful thinking that the terrible bloating is trying to be helpful.

If it gets uncomfortable, add a few drops of lemon juice to your water. It makes you pee and will help relieve the pressure for a while.
