HRM vs. BodyBug accuracy

I was told earlier today that my HRM could be giving me wrong calories burned and that people who have switched from a HRM to a BodyBug noticed their calories were off from what they were used to when they used their HRM.

Last night I burned (from what I was told by my new HRM monitor, that I spent over $100 on, it's a polor RS300X) 433 calories from 30 min of running and walking. I just started back up with working out and I'm sure I'm completely out of shap so when I saw that number I thought it would be farily accurate based on my current hr and health.

Well according to my friend who also walks/runs on the treadmill for 30 min she only burns around 280 calories for that 30 min. Now I have no idea how we are compared to weight and fitness level, I'm assuming the more fit you are the less calories you are going to burn unless you put in a larger workout. But you also are buring more calories when you are just sitting still then an unfit person. She says there is no way I could of burned that many calories last night.

I guess my question is, should I be concerned that my HRM isn't giving me correct information? I have it set up for me but I set it up over a year ago, should i do it again?

Thanks for your help.

If you are out of shape and she works out regularly, that would certainly explain the difference. As you work out more, you'll find that you begin to burn less doing the same workout because your fitness level increases.
