Why pushups every OTHER day? Shouldn't I aim to do them every day???

Nope the muscle grows on your rest days, as it repairs itself.

Secondly WHY? Can't all the threads be this supportive, great job :)

Today I did a pushup. A real one. Not even a girly one. I might have even done 2. I haven't been able to do a pushup... EVER. NEVER EVER EVER.

I also did 10 situps. I haven't been able to do a situp in probably 15 years. Not a single one.

Combine this with my 5 pound loss in 2 weeks, and I am feeling GOOD.

( Little victories add up, right?? )

    That is absolutely WONDERFUL!!!!!

I suppose until you get up to a higher total number (I am usually hitting around 200 as part of my "upper body" days) you can do them every day.

The idea is to rest muscles a day after you train them. Push ups are an excellent exercise and you can see results from them.

You could do them every day until you get to say 30 or more.

    have fun.

and I would suggest planks rather than sit ups

Congrats.... I am doing push-ups and sit-ups to prepare for the military.... The website I use is www.hundredpushups.com in 6 weeks you can build up to 100 push-ups... right now I am doing it on my knees so I can build more strength in my upper body, but I am going to do it another 6 weeks real time!!!! I am also doing sit-ups which you can also find on the website it helps you do 200 sit-ups in 6 weeks...... You should check it out! Goodluck

My trainer has me plank with my forearms balancing on the exercise ball. OMG... I'm shaking and grunting and praying he'll finally say.. TIME!!! (I think he enjoys seeing me sweat it out).
