Knee support

So, like many, many others, I have damaged my knee on the 30DS. Damn you Jillian.

I've bought a neoprene knee support and have been wearing it in the day and resting my knee by doing no or very low impact exercise for the past few days.

Unfortunately I'm seeing no improvement.

Is the support actually helping, it feels like it is when on, but I'm worried it might be hindering rather than helping.

Should I just wear it when exercising?

What about at night?

I'm not used to injury and want to get mended ASAP!

Knee supports won't help an injury heal, they are for use after recovery to provide warmth and support. Some physios don't recommend wearing them for exercise as they give false reassurance.

Google knee pain to identify what type of injury you might have done and treat as appropriate, which includes doing rehabilitation exercises for the knee. Rest, ice (or warmth if it's muscular), compression and elevation (RICE) and ibuprofen (pills or gel) four times a day will all help. Not all "low impact" exercises are gentle on the knee - swimming kicks can make it worse.

If it's any reassurance, Jillian killed my knees at first, as did running, but as I got accustomed to the exercises and did targeted exercises for the supporting muscles, I seldom get any trouble at all. It's just my muscles that kill now!
