Lost 150lbs!

Here's my story...
i was 330lbs and unable to jog more then 100m without being exhausted! I went for a physical in January 2011 and the doctor told me my blood sugar was slightly elevated, which was the kick-start I needed! I started to run. A bunch of my friends were already trying to run because of our sudden urge to start up a team to play ultimate, and within three months ran my first half-marathon! I ran the entire thing and was witnessed, by many, crying while crossing the finish line! Me, a 260lb (at this point) self-professed tough-guy, crying while crossing the finish line!!!! I was so happy for myself! I couldn't believe I was even capable of running that far!!!
I continued to train, hoping to run a full-marathon 11 months after my journey started! I also started training for a triathlon, hoping to attempt one the following year. I was training for hours per day and in the best shape of my life, then things went downhill. My mother got sick in July and ended up dying just a few days later. After spending a sleepless week in the hospital and then arranging the funeral while also emptying her house, I hadn't slept very much, if at all. While driving home from the funeral, I drove off the road (I'll never know/remember why) and flipped my car multiple times. I fractured almost every vertebrae in my back, every rib, pelvis, sternum, foot and multiple skull fractures causing multiple brain injuries. I was paralyzed on my left side and in a coma, after being cut out of the car and airlifted, off of the highway, to the hospital; an intubated, unresponsive, parapelegic, as my wife overhead my spinal surgeon say to a student. I spent three months in the hospital learning to walk again, function, even use the bathroom. While I still suffer many problems from the brain injuries, I can fortunately be a useful part of my family and talk and walk.
While in the hospital, I lost another 50 lbs, after already being down 100lbs when the accident happened. On my request, my wife had brought a scale to the hospital and I weighed my self, shocked to see 180.8 on the scale. I hadn't weighed that since I had been in grade 7!!!!! I got home from the hospital and am unable to move at the pace I did before, which has made weight maintenance extremely tough! I quickly gained back 25lbs (Mmmm... butter tarts, lol). After realizing I had to make major changes, I have lost 10 of that 25 and am comfortably sitting at 195lbs. Technically, down 135lbs. This was always my goal and I hope I can keep at this weight for the rest of my life. Now... I just focus on getting strength back, as I still really, really, really, want to run that marathon one day!!!! I want my kids to see their Dad cross that finish line, balling his eyes out!

Your story reminded me of a news article I read recently in a local newpaper, so I found it for you:

You are already a miracle! On the mornings I want to shut my alarm off and go back to sleep, I will remember your story, give thanks for my healthy, injury-free body, and get up and work my *kitten* off! If you are working through injury, I can work too!0 -
