What is your go-to breakfast smoothie? Is it important to add a fat? This morning I had a smoothie with banana, peach, protein powder, almond milk, and 1.5 T of almond butter with flax. It tasted so rich that I thought this couldn't be helpful to my weight loss goals. Should the almond butter be left out?

  • I am a smoothie fanatic. I ♥ my blender, I use it at least twice a day!
Fir breakfast, which is usually late-morning for me, I have a smoothie that I just love.

    1 banana
    1 cup of FRESH strawberries
1/2 cup of plain Greek Yogurt (I use the Kirkland brand from Costco)
1 scoop of triple chocolate whey protein (I get at Wal-Mart)
and 1 big scoop of ice

blend it all until smooth - it's super yummy.

    7g fiber
28g sugar (which all comes from the fruit, so I don't worry about it so much)

If I were you, I'd replace the almond butter with greek yogurt to start with. Another great thing you can do with smoothies is something I learned from making my own baby food. Take regular quaker oats in the old-school can and dump them into the blender by themselves and turn it on high, it will grind the oatmeal down to almost a powder, like baby cereal, and you can add that to a smoothie too. A great meal replacement smoothie is oatmeal, peanut butter, banana, whey protein, and ice. Delicious. I seriously have a love affair with smoothies.... I love Tropical Smoothie, but I had to stop going b/c their smoothies had additives and lots of sugar added so I started making my own and I have come up with lots of great ones. I should start a smoothie cookbook or something :p Hope this helps you some!!
  • Thank you thank you! I love the oatmeal idea!
