How are your workouts divided?

I'm new to this so I have a few questions. I'm wondering how many of your workouts are cardio and how many are strength and toning? I'm trying to work out 6 days a week but have been doing mainly cardio. I know I need to tone up as well. Should I do 3 and 3? Or two days a week do 20 minutes of toning and the rest cardio? I need to lose 56 pounds if that matters.

    I would advise you do your cardio every day, and on 4 of the days restrict it to 20 minutes after doing a strength workout, and cycling your strength workouts so you don't do the same muscle groups two days in a row (muscles need time to repair). My split is;

    Day 1 - Legs
Day 2 - Chest and Triceps
Day 3 - Back and Biceps
Day 4 - Shoulders, Calves and Abs

I do weight lifting 4x per week, 2 days upper, 2 days lower. I don't do any cardio.

Right now Im on a 3 day split:

Monday - "Push" chest, shoulders, triceps
    Incline Dumbbell Bench Press
    Dumbbell or Barbell Bench Press
    Weighted Wide Grip Dip
    Cable Crossovers
    Seated Dumbbell Press
    Dumbbell Lateral Raise
    Close Grip Bench Press
    EZ Bar Skullcrushers

Wednesday - "Pull" back, biceps, traps
    Weighted Wide Grip Pull Up
    One Arm Dumbbell Row
    Seated Cable Row
    Close Grip Pull Down
    Barbell or Dumbbell Shrugs
    Standing Barbell Curl
    Standing Dumbbell Curl

    Friday - Legs and abs
    Squat
    Stiff Leg Deadlift
    Leg Press
    Leg Curl
    Standing Calf Raise
    Seated Calf Raise
    Cable Crunch
    Cable Torso Rotation

I also do some core and cardio on off days and weekends. Before that I was doing 5 day split with weekends off...

It really depends on your own strength, recovery and target goal on how to split up the workouts. Just try to find/do something that isnt going to over train or hurt your progress.

also remember that when you increase muscle strength it will help burn more fat because your muscles, in essence, eat the fat the stronger they get. And legs are the biggest muscles and best at helping to burn fat.

If you are focusing on losing wait then I would say eat as clean as possible and do more cardio than weight training, but dont NOT do weight training.
