Road bikers

Are there any Road bikers out there?
I am thinking about getting into the sprot and would like as much info as possible.
Any help would be wonderful.
I am heading to a bike shop on Saturday to do a fitness evaluation.
Not sure what they will measure, what are 'good' numbers. I know very little about the sport.
Anyone???
