In Love and Overweight

My S. O. and I have been at odds for over 12 years. I thought that love would conquer all and that weight doesn't matter. But it has constantly caused a wedge between the two of us. We don't go out, We can't visit amusment parks or get on rides. Now my weight has increased. If I suggest healthier eating choices it creates a problem and argument. How can you be happy with someone who is not happy with themselves? Help!

It's very difficult. Even if the other person isn't overweight, if they're really unhappy with some other aspect of themselves, it tends to cause problems. In some ways, it's not a nice thing to say, but sometimes you just have to accept that things aren't working. Especially if the relationship is really hurting you long-term (this might sound selfish, but at some point, you're both adults).0
