Can someone explain the summary?

So my calorie goal is 1400
It says I have so far eaten 1065
Then it says excercise -850
And it says I have 1185 calories remaining.
This doesn't make sense.

Because you can 'eat back' your exercise calories that you have burned.
Add your 1400 and 850, then subtract what you've eaten...1185 remaining to eat today.0 -
Your calorie goal given already had you at a deficit. Therefore, when you exercise, you get to eat those calories back. 1400 - 1065 + 850 = 1185 calorie remaining.0

So by burning an 850 calories, you've created too large of a calorie deficit, and need to consume that amount to stay at your chosen weight loss goal.0 -
your net calories should = your goal calories it says to consume, because you naturally burn calories and then exercise them off, your body is really only taking in what your net calories equal to. for women, it's not healthy to go under 1200 net calories a day. you will still lose weight. and if you are under you calorie goal, it may lead you to a plateau and you'll go into starvation mode. hope this helps! it took me a long time to figure this out.0

Simply stated MFP has already figured out your total calories you need to eat per day to lose 1lb etc. a week.
That's WITHOUT exercise. You'll notice that when you actually add exercise in, the calorie limit goes up.
Why? Because it's telling you to eat your exercise calories.
Large deficits aren't really good to do because while you will lose weight, what kind of weight will it be?
In many cases you'll lose lean muscle tissue which LOWERS your metabolic rate even more.
Then you have to eat even less to compensate for less of a calorie burn to continue to lose the same amount of weight each week.
Be efficient.
Exercise hard and eat back the calories. The hard exercise will RAISE your metabolic rate and burn more fat at rest.0 -

I thought that too at first and unfortunately it took me months of plateau to realize that I wasn't eating enough. I thought that it didn't make sense to eat back what I just burned off. but you need to give your body enough fuel to burn so it doesn't store it. it may seem weird but it really does work.0 -

It credits you for the exercise calories because you're supposed to eat them back and prevent such a large defecit as to stall your weight loss.0 -

And that's where eating the calories you burn through exercise will really come into play.
It would be counter productive to eat the calories you earn from exercise if the deficit wasn't already created for you. Some plans use exercise to create the deficit. MFP doesn't do that.
So if you didn't eat those calories, you'd end up with too large of a calorie deficit. Too large of a deficit means that your body will burn through your lean muscle mass. When you lose your lean muscle mass, you end up reaching your goal weight and thinking, "Ugh... I thought I'd look better than THIS!" So, take the 1400 and subtract te 1065 you've eaten. You get 335. Now add your workout calories to that and you get 1185. Right now the 1185 is your deficit, but you need to at least try and eat the 335 that you had left before the workout. The nice thing with that fantastic burn you got is that you could eat 800 calories if you wanted and still have a 385 calorie deficit. Hope that helps0 -
