Hi
I am Jim and I just signed up on this site. I live in Reno, Nevada. This site looks like it is really easy to use and should help me in my goal of getting healthy. I was just diagnosed with Diabetes and I weigh 316#s. I need to change my inactive lifestyle and become healthy through eating healthy foods and doing some exercising. I am looking for friends for mutual support. I like reading all the success stories on this site.

Take care.

Jim

Hi Jim, I'm Teena, 42, and live in Canada. I'm not diabetic, but I too am changing my inactive lifestyle to a more active one along with making healthier food choices. I look forward to sharing in successes and motivating on difficult days.

    JIm,
I have been doing this for about 20 days and it is so easy. I have done Weight Watches and this is so much easier then the whole figuring out points thing. For Exercise, start out simple and work yourself up. Now if I don't exercise I don't feel good. So keep it up and don't get frustrated. Good luck to you.

    Hi Jim -

Welcome and feel free to add me.

I'm slowly trying to get back into an active life style, too, after years of continuing bad eating habits and decreased physical activities. I have relatives that have diabetes, so I'm familiar with the regiment one might have to adhere to, depending on the type.

This is a good site, good people with mostly positive advice.

Hey Jim, I just came from where you are. I weighed about 315 last January. I made it down to 215

My advice- Take it slow, set a reasonable goal of about 2 lbs per week. Have a (reasonable) cheat meal once per week, and design a diet you can live with for an entire year.

You will loose some muscle mass. Try to minimize that by doing some resistance training and eat plenty of protein (much more than what MFP programs in) I'd shoot for 150g/day minimum, and 200G/day wouldn't be bad if you have no metabolic issues.

You can do it, but you have to be patient.

    Best Wishes
