I'm getting to the point where I weigh about 4-5 times per day! I think it's because I'm sooooo excited. I don't want to get disapointed.

once a week, MAX. you could even try once every 2 weeks if you're trying to break the scale habit.

Kerri has far more self control than I do.

If getting on the scale a lot makes you happy and motivated, keep it up. If seeing a fluctuation in weight is gonna freak you out and discourage you, you should weigh less often.

I weigh every day, twice. But I am also emotionally immune to slight changes, I expect to see fluctuations, and do not get upset or off track when I see them. I use that info to notice things like, Oh, OK, I had a high sodium day yesterday, and look, I'm up 2 lbs. I use it to remind me to stay on track.

That may not work for everybody. So evaluate your own emotional investment in the scale and decide how often you want to weigh. For some folks, once a month is perfect. For me, I wanna keep closer tab on things, so I get on morning and before bed. I also measure once a week. Just so I know.

Find what works for you, and stick to it:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

I weigh once a month. I find it works better for me.
  • Kerri is right. Despite how "exciting" it may be, you're weighing in too often. :noway: Weight fluctuates so much and when you do weigh you should only do it at the same time per day using the same scale. Morning is the best time, before eating or drinking as those both effect the weight.

For me, I avoid the scale one week before and one week after my time of month due to water retention. I gain 5 - 7 lbs around that time, but it goes away. And I only weigh on a Thursday, because I tend to drink less water on the weekends and consume a little more cals than I should on wkds. Come Monday and Tuesday I am still retaining water, thus weighing more.

I weigh three times a month, once a week, skipping my week of TOM. Why do I have to see the obvious? I know it's going to rise on that week, so why bother.

Wii fit body test, every morning after shower before dress & breakfast.

I'm pretty thick skinned about it though,,, I went to a church picnic Sunday night and wound up 100 calories over for the day - and I had a link of kielbasa,,, ( :ohwell: ), and I wasn't too surprised to be up 2 pounds the next morning. Just water, metabolizing the salt, didn't let it bug me. That 2 pounds and a little more was gone the next day.

Anywho,,,, if you accept that little stuff happens day to day and what counts is the long term trend then you can weigh in as often as you want. I like to check often because it keeps me motivated. But if you're gonna be bothered by little fluctuations then you should weigh once a week at most.

    My $.o2

Let me correct myself. There's nothing "wrong" with weighing everyday, but when you get to the point where you're obsessed with the scale- when it's slight fluctuations in either direction excite or depress you- there's a problem. Understanding your body is really important: we all fluctuate- up to 5 or 6 lbs a day to be honest, so weighing in 4 or 5 times in one day is bound to leave you disappointed.

I completely agree with Kerri ( I hope she knows I was just joking:embarassed: )

If it messes with your head, do it less often. If you can control your emotions, do it as you see fit.

  • I agree. I think I becoming obsessed with weighing myself. I do want to keep myself on track though. Mabe I could drop to 2X's per week. All I want to do is check my weight! I'm excited and I hope it doesn't wear off. Thanks for all of the help!
